New Career Center International Business course.
Date: November 18, 2008
This spring a new program is being offered at the Career Center which will provide area high school students an opportunity to earn college credit while exploring the exciting world of global business, cultures and economics. The Career Center has received a grant from the Vermont Department of Education to pilot this program.
The spring semester course will introduce students to three aspects of international business: cultural and social influences on global trade, history and its role in international trade, and an exploration of careers in the international marketplace. Students will have the opportunity to work towards these objectives through field trips to area businesses and colleges, and workshops with leading professionals in the field. Under the supervision of program instructors students will create a portfolio based on their independent interests.
Students interested in careers in business management, marketing, government, cross cultural communications, economics, e-commerce, public relations, and non-profit organizations should consider this course.
The course is credited both at the high school and the college level. And, as part of the DOE grant, full scholarships for college tuition have been made available for all. Participants in this class will also have access to a full range of support services from Community College of Vermont.
Interested parents and students are invited to contact the Career Center at 451-3900.
